Aligarh: The Community College organised its first-ever College Fest, Taqreeb-e-Basti, at the University Boys Polytechnic Auditorium, marking a significant milestone in its history. The event, celebrated as a showcase of talent, creativity, and unity, brought together students, faculty, and the local community in a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere.
The festival offered a dynamic platform for students to display their organisational and creative skills. Highlights included a bustling food court featuring a variety of cuisines and student-run stalls showcasing handmade crafts, accessories, and innovative projects by local entrepreneurs, adding a unique charm to the celebrations.
Dr. Mohd. Yunus Khan, Course Coordinator for Production Technology and Fashion Design & Garment Technology, inaugurated the event, describing it as a celebration of knowledge, creativity, and collaboration.
Prof. Arshad Umar, Principal of University Polytechnic and Nodal Officer of Community College, emphasised the importance of such events in promoting holistic development through teamwork and innovation.
The Chief Guest, Prof. M. Wasim Ali, University Proctor, encouraged students to excel in all areas of life. He underscored the value of vocational education in addressing the demand for skilled professionals in today’s competitive job market and urged students to make the most of the college’s vocational programmes.
Guest of Honour, Omar Peerzada, AMU’s Public Relations Officer, highlighted the university’s rich traditions and stressed the role of vocational training in equipping students with practical skills for success in a rapidly evolving world.
Another Guest of Honour, Prof. Syed Ali Nawaz Zaidi, Deputy Proctor, spoke about the dual importance of cultural activities and discipline in fostering personal and institutional growth. He pointed out how such events not only preserve traditions and creativity but also teach valuable skills like time management.
The event was meticulously organised by a team led by Diwan Zeeshan Khan, Syed Faizul Hasan, Tazyin Warees, and Mirza Hamdan Baig. Proceedings were conducted by Alina and Barkat, while Ms. Nimra Khan delivered the vote of thanks.
The festivities concluded with a mesmerising Sufi Music Night at the JNMC Auditorium, featuring Sufi singer Syed Faizul Hasan, who captivated the audience with his soulful performance.
