Aligarh: Prof. S.M. Khan from the Department of Psychology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), delivered a series of impactful lectures during the 10-day national workshop on “Research Methodology: Research for Resurgence” held at Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU), Palwal, Haryana. The workshop, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, brought together scholars and faculty members from across the country.
Prof. Khan addressed participants on “Indirect Methods of Measurement in Social Sciences”, underscoring the need for scientific rigour to align social sciences with the empirical standards of physical sciences. He demonstrated key psychometric computations: reliability, validity, and norms, using the user-friendly Jamovi Stat for All software.
Participants also received practical training in statistical techniques, including hypothesis testing, power analysis, and structural equation modelling (SEM).
