Kolar: Once the battleground of Tipu Sultan, the historical town Kolar has many graveyards wherein Sultan’s soldiers and his close relatives are buried. Close to Budikotta, the birth place of Sultan’s father Hyder Ali and Devanhalli, where Tipu was born, Kolar is also known for the erstwhile gold fields.
Since decades it has been the tradition to invite non-Muslims for the anniversary programme of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The District Collector, Superintendent of Police and other administrative officers participate in the public programme along with other dignitaries. The teachings and mission of the Prophet are explained in Kannada language and Islamic literature especially about the Prophet’s life is also distributed.

Speaking on the occasion, Riyaz Ahmed Ron, assistant secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Karnataka explained in chaste Kannada the relevance of the Prophet’s message to our times. Despite material growth and development, the society in general is engulfed with corrupt mentality and practices. Moral degradation has given rise to various evils, he said. In a similar situation Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with his strong character and teachings changed the scenario. A man can achieve success in this life and the life hereafter by following the traditions and teachings of the Prophet, he said.
Maulana Kalimullah Baqi Qasmi and Maulana Muhammad Ali Barakati, Imam and Khatib Masjid-e-Hazrat Qutb Ghauri spoke in Urdu. Zameer Ahmed, president of the Anjuman-e-Islamia presided over the programme.
