Anuj Chaudhary Replaced by IPS Alok Bhati Months After Sambhal Violence

Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh: Five months after the communal violence in Sambhal, Circle Officer (CO) Anuj Chaudhary has been removed from his post. He has been replaced by IPS officer Alok Bhati, who will now take over the responsibility of maintaining law and order in the area, reported the Hindustan Times.
CO Anuj Chaudhary had remained at the center of controversy following the Sambhal incident, primarily due to his public statements, which drew sharp criticism and prompted a departmental inquiry. Senior officials had also imposed a gag order on his media interactions. With a fresh inquiry being launched into his conduct, officials have hinted at the possibility of his imminent transfer outside the district.
The administrative reshuffle comes amid growing concerns over accountability and responsible policing in sensitive areas.
