Jaipur: The Constitution Fortnight 2024 kicked off in Jaipur’s Girdharipura slum with a special programme focused on engaging children. The event, which extended late into the night, aimed to spread awareness about the essence of the Constitution and citizens’ rights and duties. A poster marking the launch of Constitution Fortnight was unveiled, and children were given books on the Constitution. This initiative is a collaborative effort by the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), Rajasthan Nagrik Manch (RNM), Rajasthan Samgra Seva Sangh (RSSS), Rajasthan Ekal Nari Mahila Manch (RENMM), and other civil society organisations.
The programme featured interactive sessions with children, answering their questions about the Constitution. Distinguished guests included retired judge T.C. Rahul, CPI state secretary Narendra Acharya, Gandhian leader Dharamvir Katewa, APCR general secretary Muzammil Rizvi, RNM general secretary Basant Haryana, RENMM representative Hemlata Kasotia, and ‘Samjho To’ programme coordinator Gayatri Kumawat.
Muzammil Rizvi emphasised the initiative’s purpose: to educate the public about constitutional values. “The Preamble guarantees justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity to all citizens, and this initiative aims to make these principles a lived reality,” he stated.
Basant Haryana added, “Constitution Fortnight is a vital opportunity to highlight citizens’ rights and responsibilities. Our mission is to instil constitutional awareness across all sections of society.”
The event concluded with heartfelt thanks from Gayatri Kumawat to all attendees.
