APCR Hosts Workshop on New Criminal Laws

Davanagere, August 14: A workshop titled “Pursuit of Legal Justice” was organized by the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) Davangere unit on Sunday here to enlighten citizens about the newly implemented criminal laws and empower citizens about their rights and enable them to contribute to building a just society.

Advocate Syed Akmal Rizvi of Karnataka High Court delivered an insightful keynote address on the implications of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita Bill (BNSS), Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill (BNS), and Bhartiya Sakshya Bill (BSB) on our daily lives.

Senior journalist and social activist Shivasundar also addressed the gathering, highlighting the role of media in shaping public opinion and fostering legal awareness.

The event concluded with the presidential address and a vote of thanks by APCR Davanagere unit president Mohammed Khalid.

Interactive Q&A sessions with both resource persons sparked engaging discussions and clarifications on various legal aspects. Participants showed keen interest in understanding their rights and responsibilities under the new criminal laws.

The presence of recently acquitted individuals from the Channagiri case added a unique perspective to the workshop.
