APCR Opposes One-Sided Action in Bijaynagar, Demands Halt to Bulldozer Drive

-Raheem Khan
Bijaynagar (Beawar): A delegation from the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) Rajasthan Chapter visited Bijaynagar, Beawar. It included National Assistant Coordinator Advocate M. Huzaifa, Assistant Coordinator Prakriti, General Secretary Muzammil Rizvi, and Assistant Coordinator Rabbe Khan.
They met Jama Masjid and Cemetery Committee officials, who shared concerns about the municipality declaring the masjid and cemetery illegal and demanding documents. APCR advised legal action and urged judicial recourse.
Following APCR’s intervention, the municipality had to respond per Supreme Court guidelines. The Masjid Committee received 15 days to clarify its stance. APCR also filed petitions in the Waqf Tribunal and High Court Jaipur to safeguard the mosque and cemetery.
APCR strongly opposed the administration’s one-sided action and demanded an immediate halt to the bulldozer drive. Notices were issued to accused families in the blackmailing case and the Jama Masjid on alleged encroachment grounds. APCR questioned the timing, suspecting ulterior motives.
The Supreme Court’s CWP No: 295/2022 (Nov 13, 2024) mandates:
A 15-day notice before demolition.
Time for appeal or voluntary removal.
Demolition of only unauthorized, non-compoundable structures.
A detailed inspection report pre-demolition.
APCR State President Advocate Syed Saadat Ali condemned the administration’s haste, calling it a Supreme Court violation. He denounced attempts to communalize the incident and clarified APCR’s non-support for blackmailing or violence.
State General Secretary Muzammil Rizvi stressed the need for a sensitive, fair approach, condemning police inaction on inflammatory social media remarks. Despite attacks on the police, no cases were registered. He warned of elements inciting communal tension and demanded strict action.
APCR urged impartiality, fair investigation, and justice for the teenager. The administration must halt the bulldozer drive, uphold natural justice, and punish culprits.
