Jaipur: On the occasion of Human Rights Day, the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), Rajasthan organized a symposium on Sunday at Chamber Bhavan, M.I. Road, Jaipur. The objective of the event was to raise public awareness about human rights and to strengthen the constitutional guarantees provided to every citizen.
The symposium was presided over by Advocate Syed Saadat Ali, President of APCR Rajasthan. In his address, he said that human rights are not merely constitutional provisions but fundamental rights linked to every citizen’s dignity and freedom. Protecting these rights, he emphasized, is a collective responsibility of society.
Nisha Sidhu, National General Secretary of the National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW), served as the chief guest. She stated that a just and equal society cannot be achieved without safeguarding the rights of women, children, and marginalized communities. She urged citizens to remain vigilant and aware of their rights.
Special guest Sawai Singh said that democracy flourishes only when human rights are respected. He highlighted the vital role of social organizations in bringing about positive change and commended APCR for its continuous efforts in this direction.
Salam Johar spoke about the growing need for human rights awareness, noting that lack of information often deprives people of their legal and constitutional entitlements.
Guest speaker Advocate Ghulam Nizamuddin elaborated on the legal perspective of human rights. He said the Constitution ensures equality and justice to every citizen, and that legal awareness is essential for the effective enforcement of these rights.
Advocate Muzammil Rizvi, General Secretary of APCR Rajasthan, conducted the program and highlighted the organization’s ongoing initiatives to safeguard civil liberties and human rights.
Other speakers who shared their views included Advocate Munazir Islam, Dr. Iqbal Siddiqui, Rukhsana Usman, Mohammad Ansar, Basant Haryana, Sabiha Parveen, and Advocate Javed Akhtar.
The symposium concluded with a vote of thanks by Advocate Mohammad Iqbal. The event witnessed active participation from lawyers, social activists, and citizens including Rabba Kuma Khan, Mohammad Abid Khan, Jameel Ahmad, Mohammad Azhar, Javed Khan, and Islamuddin Qureshi.
