Ghaziabad: The Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) has released a fact-finding report on the recent assault of a Muslim minor girl and her family in Ghaziabad’s Tulsi Niketan area, exposing alarming patterns of Hindutva vigilantism and police leniency. The attack followed a viral video in which the girl said she would eat beef, triggering outrage among right-wing groups.
According to APCR, members of the Bajrang Dal and Hindu Raksha Dal, led by Daksh Chaudhary, stormed the family’s home, hurled obscene abuses, and shouted anti-Muslim slurs. The attackers, identified as Chaudhary, Prakash Singh, Annu, Akku, Amit, and Abhishek, attempted to break into the house while filming the assault.
APCR’s report highlights that Chaudhary, the main accused, has a long record of communal violence, including attacks on JNUSU leader Kanhaiya Kumar, Rohingya refugees, and mosque intrusions. Despite this, he continues to enjoy impunity and remains active online, celebrating the Ghaziabad assault through hate-filled videos.
The police registered a case at Tila Mod Police Station under sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, arresting two accused, Annu and Amit, while Chaudhary and others remain absconding. The report also criticised police action for registering a counter-case against the Muslim minor over remarks allegedly directed at Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
APCR has urged authorities to ensure justice for the victim, protect the family from further intimidation, and curb the growing culture of hate-driven mob violence targeting Muslims in Uttar Pradesh.
