Gautam Budh Nagar: The Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) has secured bail in a case arising from the Noida labour protests, in which workers had raised demands concerning minimum wages, overtime payments and working conditions.
The case is registered as Crime No. 164/2016 at Police Station Phase-2, Gautam Budh Nagar, and involves multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984, and Section 7 of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 1932.
The bail application was filed before the competent court as Criminal Misc. Bail Application (BAIL) No. 28243/2026. Advocate Irshad Ahmad, representing the accused on behalf of APCR, appeared in the matter and secured bail.
The case is connected to the wider legal aftermath of the labour protests in Noida and Greater Noida, where workers had taken to the streets over concerns relating to wages and working conditions. Following the escalation of the protests, criminal cases were registered against several individuals.
APCR will continue to provide legal assistance in cases involving the protection of constitutional rights, civil liberties and the right to peaceful participation in public life. The organisation reiterates that the exercise of legal rights and access to justice must remain available to every individual, including workers facing criminal proceedings.
