Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi called on Muslims to build independent political leadership, stating that existing secular parties have failed to check the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Speaking at a public address, Owaisi criticised parties such as the Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Shiv Sena UBT, and the former NCP. He accused them of adopting soft Hindutva positions while failing to represent Muslim interests in governance.
He said Muslim voters need unity and a clear political direction. He argued that reliance on secular parties has not delivered meaningful representation. He stressed the need for independent leadership to ensure a stronger voice in decision making.
Referring to the West Bengal Assembly elections, Owaisi said the outcome reflected multiple issues, including anti incumbency, corruption allegations, and what he described as the exploitation of Muslim voters. He also raised concerns related to electoral roll revisions. He said the BJP’s mandate in the state should be respected and noted that divided opposition votes weaken resistance to its expansion.
Owaisi pointed to ground realities in elections. He said marginalised groups need direct representation rather than dependence on alliances. He thanked voters in West Bengal for supporting AIMIM despite the party not securing seats. He also praised the Indian Union Muslim League for its performance in Kerala.
He raised concerns over reports of Muslim displacement in Assam and criticised state policies under the current leadership. He called for accountability. He also wrote to the Railway Minister seeking an inquiry and compensation in a train death case in Uttar Pradesh, which he described as a hate crime.
