Following the tragic incident on April 27, Ashraf’s family members arrived in Mangaluru around 12:30 AM on Tuesday to identify his body at Wenlock Mortuary, reported the Varta Bharati.
Ashraf’s brother and two other relatives confirmed his identity, after which legal formalities were completed and the body was handed over early on April 30. The funeral rites, including Mayyit Namaz (funeral prayer), were held at Zeenath Baksh Central Juma Masjid in Bunder. By around 4:30 AM, the mortal remains were transported by ambulance to Malappuram for burial.
Several prominent individuals, including former Mayor K. Ashraf, Suhail Kandak, K.K. Shahul Hameed, B.K. Imtiyaz, Santosh Bajal, Jaleel Krishnapura, and Riyaz Kadambu were present during the final rites.
Ashraf originally hailed from Malappuram but had settled in Wayanad some years ago. According to his brother Jabbar, Ashraf was suffering from mental health issues due to business-related losses.
