Hyderabad: Niloufer Government Hospital for Women and Children has honoured social activist Asif Hussain Sohail, founder of the Sakina Foundation, for his humanitarian work in healthcare support. Sohail received the Award of Excellence and the Best NGO Partner Award for his efforts in saving lives through consistent blood donation drives and emergency aid.
Under Sohail’s leadership, the Sakina Foundation has organized regular blood donation camps and provided thousands of units of blood to women and children in need, completely free of cost. His work has become a critical support system for Niloufer Hospital, particularly for underprivileged patients requiring urgent transfusions.
Hospital Superintendent Dr. Vijay Kumar presented the awards and praised Sohail’s long-standing partnership with the institution. He said Sohail’s commitment had not only strengthened the hospital’s emergency response capacity but had also inspired civic engagement among Hyderabad’s youth.
The Sakina Foundation’s outreach extends beyond healthcare. It runs feeding programs, provides medical equipment, and assists low-income families during crises. Its model of community-driven aid has made it one of the most trusted voluntary groups in Telangana.
The recognition from Niloufer Hospital underscores the growing importance of grassroots humanitarian work in bridging healthcare gaps for marginalized groups. Activists and medical professionals alike called the award a timely acknowledgment of voluntary service that directly saves lives.
