Moradabad, Aug 30: A violent attack on two Muslim youths in Ganga Vihar Colony has ignited widespread outrage and concern. The assault, captured in a disturbing video that has since gone viral on social media, shows the young men being brutally beaten by a group of individuals who also hurled abusive language at them, Urdu daily Inquilab reported on August 29.
The incident occurred in Ganga Vihar Colony, where the attackers, identified as individuals with political affiliations, used excessive force, leaving the victims severely injured and bleeding. The violence continued despite the victims’ pleas for help.
Tensions escalated further when the father of one of the assaulted youths arrived at the scene and was also subjected to abuse and physical assault. He denied the allegations against his son, who was falsely accused of harassing a girl. Despite the presence of CCTV cameras in the area, there has been criticism of the police for their lack of immediate action against the perpetrators, who reportedly fled before any intervention.
The attack and subsequent handling of the case by authorities have provoked anger within the local community. Residents are accusing the police of bias and inaction, further exacerbated by the fact that the father and son were later charged under Section 151 of the Indian Penal Code for disturbing the peace, which many view as an unjust response.
The community is demanding a thorough investigation into both the assault and the police response. There is growing concern over safety and fairness, as local Muslims feel increasingly vulnerable in their own neighbourhoods.
