Bengaluru, Feb. 17: The Karnataka Chief Minister is known as a prudent finance minister of the state and the only person to have presented budget for 15 times. Two IAS officers Luthfulla Khan Atheeq, Additional Chief Secretary and PC Jaffer, Secretary of the finance department are considered to have played a key role in the preparation of the budget for 2024-25, presented by the Chief Minister yesterday.
A postgraduate in agriculture economics, 1991 batch IAS officer, Atheeq is a poet, and translator. He has translated Faiz Ahmed Faiz poems into Kannada and famous Kannada poet Kuvempu’s poems from Kannada into English. He is fond of bike riding too. He hails from a town Tumkur, just 70 kms from here.
A 2003 batch IAS officer from Kerala, PC Jaffer has served in various capacities in Karnataka before taking up the finance portfolio. He is known for ‘service not success’ motto and has earned many accolades for his work. He is fond of rural development, decentralization and education.
