Atishi Slams Modi Govt Over Ceasefire, Alleges US Pressure Behind Decision

– Abdul Bari Masoud
New Delhi: AAP leader and Delhi Assembly’s Leader of Opposition, Atishi, has sharply criticised the Modi government for accepting a ceasefire with Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack.
In a digital press meet on Tuesday, Atishi accused the government of bowing to U.S. pressure just as the Indian Army was retaliating strongly.
On April 22, terrorists attacked unarmed civilians, mainly tourists, in Pahalgam. “The entire country saw our sisters and daughters in tears,” she said.
She highlighted that on May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor to strike terror camps across the border. All parties backed the action. But just three days later, on May 10, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire, not the Indian government.
“Why did India stay silent while the U.S. made the announcement? If Pakistan surrendered, as PM Modi claimed, why was the declaration not made from Delhi? Why hasn’t Pakistan confirmed it?” she asked.
She also questioned if the attackers were handed over to India, adding that there is no proof of justice being delivered.
Atishi slammed PM Modi’s address to the nation, calling it one-sided. “He said Pakistan folded hands and he forgave them. But where is the proof? Where is the justice?” she asked.
She referred to President Trump’s claim that he used trade threats to pressure India into a ceasefire. “Is U.S. trade worth more than the sindoor of India’s daughters?” she questioned emotionally.
Atishi demanded full transparency from the Modi government. “Until the terrorists are punished, the country needs honest answers from the Prime Minister,” she said.
So far, the government has not responded or clarified the U.S. role in the ceasefire.
