Bengaluru, July 12: The state government has appointed senior woman journalist Ayesha Khanum as the president of Karnataka Media Academy. Other journalists have also been made members.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s media advisor KV Prabhakar proposed the name of Ayesha Khanum to the Chief Minister. This is the first time that a minority community and a woman journalist has been elected President of the Media Academy. On this occasion, Prabhakar also drew attention to the fact that Ayesha Khanum belongs to Kalburgi district of Kalyana-Karnataka region. In this background, recognizing social justice, regional justice and gender equality, a woman journalist belonging to the minority community has been appointed President of the Media Academy.
MJ Santha, Under Secretary, Department of Culture and Information, State Government, issued a notification on Thursday. It states that the president and members have been appointed for the Karnataka Media Academy under the Department of Information and Public Relations. Similarly, Ayesha Khanum – President, MN Aho Baliti, K Venkatesh and K Ningja have been appointed as members.
