Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party has released its list of 20 star campaigners for the Bihar Assembly elections, with party president Akhilesh Yadav and senior leader Azam Khan among the key names. The elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, and counting will be held on November 14.
For Azam Khan, this campaign marks a major political return after spending nearly two years in Sitapur jail. He was released last month following bail in the Quality Bar land case. If he joins the campaign trail, it will be his first major political activity since his release.
The list also includes several prominent SP figures such as Dimple Yadav, Afzal Ansari, Awadhesh Prasad, Babu Singh Kushwaha, Naresh Uttam Patel, Ramashankar Rajbhar, Lalji Verma, Chotelal Kharwar, Rajeev Rai, Iqra Hasan, Priya Saroj, and Laxmikant Nishad. Senior leaders like Kiranmoy Nanda, Tej Pratap Singh Yadav, Om Prakash Singh, and cultural front heads Kashinath Yadav and Dharmendra Solanki also feature in the campaign team.
Notably, the names of Akhilesh Yadav’s uncles, Shivpal Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav, are absent from the list. Akhilesh, during a visit to Ajmer, congratulated INDIA bloc allies for naming Tejashwi Yadav as their chief ministerial face, expressing confidence that the people of Bihar will support the alliance.
The SP’s campaign is expected to focus on strengthening the INDIA bloc’s position in Bihar and consolidating its social base ahead of the upcoming polls.
