Rampur, May 30, 2024: Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan has been convicted by Rampur’s Special MP/MLA court in an eight-year-old case involving the forced eviction of a homeowner and physical assault. The court found Khan guilty, according to his lawyer, Vinod Sharma, who confirmed that the sentencing will be announced at a later date. Khan appeared before the court via video-conferencing.
The case dates back to December 2016 when the victim, Abrar, filed a complaint against Khan and retired Circle Officer Barkat Ali. Abrar accused them of forcibly entering his house, damaging property, and assaulting him to compel him to vacate the premises.
Khan, who is already incarcerated in Sitapur jail on other charges, faces yet another legal setback with this conviction. The decision adds to his legal troubles, which have included multiple charges over the years.
This latest conviction highlights the ongoing legal challenges for Khan and underscores the judicial system’s actions against political figures involved in criminal activities.
