“On October 24, another political action aimed at Azerbaijan was organized in the European Parliament,” said Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) at a meeting of the Parliament on Tuesday, APA reports.
The chairwoman said that the Milli Majlis immediately expressed its comment to this resolution: “It is regrettable that the European Parliament has become a tool in the hands of the forces conducting a smear campaign against Azerbaijan. The European Parliament, with this resolution not only shows a biased position towards historical and modern realities in our region, but also challenges the victory achieved by Azerbaijan. Armenia occupied our lands for 30 years, and at that time the international community for some reason preferred to remain silent.”
Sahiba Gafarova also touched upon another point of concern: “The approach of the European Parliament to the COP29 event, which will be held in November in our country, is also a cause for concern. Azerbaijan is committed to creating peace in the region, but firmly rejects any bias. Our country is a place of independent domestic and foreign policy. No amount of pressure and threats can turn us from our path.”
