Bajrang Dal Protests Mosque Construction in Chhattisgarh Over Allegations of Illegal Activities

Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, July 8: Tensions have escalated in Rajnandgaon as members of the Bajrang Dal mobilized locals to protest against the construction of a mosque on Friday, July 5. The protesters raised concerns about “love jihad,” cattle slaughter, and the presence of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the area.

Reports indicate that Bajrang Dal members gathered a crowd near the mosque’s construction site, voicing strong objections and demanding the demolition of parts of the mosque. The demonstrators threatened the district administration, warning of mass agitation that could disrupt communal harmony if their demands were not met.

Recent incidents in the BJP-ruled state of Chhattisgarh have seen an increase in targeted attacks against Muslims and Christians, often carried out by right-wing Hindu groups. This surge in violence has instilled fear and insecurity within these communities.
