The city police commissioner B. Dayananda had invited the acid victim women to his Command Centre on 1st January to celebrate the New Year. The victims revealed their miseries to the Commissioner and his wife which prompted him to help them at the department level.

An NGO Vanita Help Line Centre was tasked to chalk out a concrete plan. After discussions with the victims, it was decided to ensure a bright future for the victims’ children.

Of the children identified, two are studying pre-university courses, one BBM and another Nursing course. Two are in primary school and the rest are in higher secondary grades. It has been decided to transfer the amount to the bank accounts of the institutions concerned from the next academic year.

The Commissioner had saved one of the victims from being pushed into flesh trade by her own husband and got her a job too.
