Bengaluru Woman Auto Driver Earns 45,000 Rupees per Month

Bengaluru: An everyday auto rickshaw ride in Bengaluru has turned into a widely shared account of determination and social change. The story gained attention after Sneha, a city resident, shared her experience on social media about being driven by a woman auto driver, a sight still uncommon on city roads.

Sneha wrote she booked the auto without expectation. The surprise came when a woman arrived behind the wheel. Friends nearby reacted with excitement, which soon led to a conversation during the ride. The driver spoke openly about her work and finances. She earns around Rs 45,000 a month, sometimes more, through auto driving. With this income, she has been repaying loans and working towards financial stability. She purchased the auto on loan and has already cleared close to Rs 2.5 lakh.

The driver shared she completed a 40 day training programme before starting work. The training helped her manage traffic and daily challenges with confidence. She drives an electric auto, which reduces fuel costs and makes daily operations easier. Her words reflected pride in her profession and confidence in her abilities.

She also said she was part of a group of around 300 women auto drivers working in areas such as Koramangala. According to her, they function through informal support networks. She said harassment has not been a regular issue. Many commuters respond with encouragement. Young passengers often start conversations at traffic signals, while women passengers greet them with smiles and gestures of support.

Sneha’s post quickly drew attention online. Many users praised the driver’s resilience and pointed to the wider meaning of women entering male dominated professions. The story highlighted how steady income and skill based work help women gain control over their lives.

Beyond its viral appeal, the account reflects change in urban India. More women now enter public facing roles once closed to them. For the driver, the journey remains simple. It centres on earning honestly, clearing debts, and building a secure future.
