Ayush Kumar Jaiswal, a 22-year-old student from Bihar’s Purnia district, was arrested on January 4, for issuing a bomb threat against the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Using a fake Instagram profile under the name “Nasir Pathan,” Jaiswal claimed that a bombing during the Maha Kumbh would result in the deaths of 1,000 people.
The threat, posted online, prompted swift action by the authorities. The Maha Kumbh police, in collaboration with the Bihar police, launched an investigation and traced the threat to Jaiswal. He was apprehended after returning from Nepal, where he had fled following the incident.
Investigators revealed that Jaiswal’s motive was to frame his neighbour, Nasir Pathan, and have him arrested. A joint police raid at Shaheedganj Panchayat in Purnia led to Jaiswal’s capture.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case to uncover further details and ensure the safety and security of the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela, a religious event expected to draw millions of attendees.
