Bihar Voter List Review Debunks Claims of Muslim Infiltration

Patna: A recent review of Bihar’s electoral rolls has found no evidence to support claims of large-scale Muslim infiltration, according to data shared by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh. The findings, emerging from a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, identified only 315 foreign nationals registered across the state.

Of these, 78 were Muslims while the remaining were Nepali-origin Hindus. Singh said the figures expose misinformation being spread to target the Muslim community. He added that those accusing Muslims of manipulating Bihar’s voter rolls were engaging in communal propaganda without evidence.

The review covered all districts of Bihar and was conducted under the supervision of the Election Commission. Singh highlighted that such low numbers make it clear that claims of demographic manipulation are baseless. He urged political leaders to avoid rhetoric that fuels social division and to focus instead on issues affecting citizens.

Political observers note that the data comes amid increased communal tension over voter demographics in several states. The clarification by the Election Commission and Singh’s statement both indicate the importance of fact-based dialogue in public discourse.

Civil society groups have echoed the call for transparency, saying that unchecked misinformation harms trust in democratic institutions and promotes hostility between communities. The findings from the voter list review are being seen as an important counter to false narratives about Muslim voter infiltration in Bihar.
