Bikaner, April 27: In the aftermath of the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan, Bikaner Police apprehended Usman Ghani, district president of BJP Minority Morcha in Bikaner, on Saturday morning. Ghani’s arrest came three days after he voiced objections to Prime Minister Modi’s remarks in the media.
Sources report that Usman Ghani was detained by Bikaner Police on charges related to breach of peace. Ghani’s criticism of PM Modi during a televised interview in Delhi led to his expulsion from the BJP just days prior to his arrest.
During the interview, Ghani expressed his disagreement with Prime Minister Modi’s statements, labeling them as inappropriate. Despite acknowledging PM Modi as a prominent figure within the party, Ghani openly criticized the Prime Minister’s remarks concerning the Muslim community.
The disciplinary committee of the BJP, chaired by Onkar Singh Lakhawat, issued an order on April 24, expelling Usman Ghani from the party for a duration of six years. The decision was made on the grounds of Ghani’s breach of party discipline.
Usman Ghani’s association with the BJP dates back to 2005 when he joined the party, having previously been an active member of ABVP. Serving as District President of BJP Minority Morcha in Bikaner, Ghani held various significant roles within the party, including Vice President.
Ghani’s televised critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements and his subsequent expulsion from the party sparked debates across Rajasthan. In the interview, Ghani urged PM Modi to refrain from making what he deemed as baseless comments and advised him to focus on inclusive rhetoric.
Despite facing disciplinary action from the party, Ghani remained steadfast in his stance, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and unity within the diverse fabric of India. He highlighted the challenges faced by BJP representatives when seeking support from the Muslim community and advocated for a more inclusive approach to governance.
The arrest of Usman Ghani has stirred discussions within political circles, shedding light on the complexities of dissent and party discipline within the BJP ranks.
