BIT Hosts Invited Talk on Data Protection and Cyber Security

Mangaluru: Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT) hosted an engaging invited talk on “Global Data Protection Policy & Regulation” and “Cyber Security Architecture,” organised by the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). The event, held in collaboration with the IEEE BIT Student Branch and the Institution’s Innovation Council, took place in BIT’s International Seminar Hall.

The guest speakers for the session were distinguished scholars from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK: Dr. Vibhishinie Bentotahewa, an expert in data protection and regulatory policies and Dr. Liqaa Nawaf, a specialist in cyber security architecture.

As per a Vartha Bharathi report, the event began with a welcome address by Dr. Abdullah Gubbi, Head of the ECE Department. BIT Principal, Dr. Manjur Basha, stressed the importance of keeping pace with advancements in data protection and cyber security during his address. He urged students to continually update their skills to meet industry needs.

Dr. A.M. Khan from Mangalore University’s Electronics Department also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the relevance of the topics discussed, both academically and in industry, encouraging students to embrace interdisciplinary learning.

The speakers provided valuable insights into data governance and the growing need for robust cyber security systems in the digital era. Their presentations highlighted the challenges and potential solutions in these critical fields, inspiring attendees to explore these domains further.
