Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of pushing privatization in public institutions as part of a larger conspiracy to eliminate government jobs and reservations.
In a strong statement, Yadav criticized the BJP-led central government for previously handing over several public sector enterprises to private entities. He alleged that the Uttar Pradesh BJP government is now aggressively following the same approach.
“BJP governments always work in the interest of capitalists. The Uttar Pradesh BJP government now plans to privatize Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal Power Corporations, intending to transfer public assets worth billions to private players under the guise of privatization,” he said.
Yadav further slammed the BJP as an anti-constitutional and anti-reservation party, claiming that it consistently works against the interests of backward communities, Dalits, and minorities. “The BJP harbors deep-seated animosity towards the PDA (Backward Classes, Dalits, and Minorities), and its policies reflect this bias,” he asserted.
He warned that privatization leads to job losses, while the private sector arbitrarily increases costs, affecting the common people. He also pointed out that shifting government institutions into private hands deprives marginalized communities of the constitutional right to reservation, a provision introduced by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for social justice.
Launching a scathing attack on the ruling party, Yadav remarked, “The BJP government operates on a policy of deceit, exploitation, and dishonesty. Employees and ordinary citizens alike are now protesting against these policies. However, the BJP remains committed to handing over the nation’s resources to its close corporate allies for personal gains.”
The SP leader emphasized that the people of India and Uttar Pradesh are now aware of the BJP’s tactics and are determined to overthrow the anti-people government in the 2027 Assembly elections.
