BJP Leader Arrested for Harassment of SP MLA Naseem Solanki

Kanpur: Police have arrested Dheeraj Chadha, a BJP leader, for allegedly using inappropriate language and threatening Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Naseem Solanki during phone conversations. The arrest follows the circulation of audio recordings on social media, which revealed Chadha’s offensive remarks directed at the recently elected legislator from the Sisamau Assembly constituency, reports The Times of India.

Late on Thursday night, SP supporters gathered at Swaroop Nagar police station to file a formal complaint and stage a protest demanding action against Chadha. According to DCP Central, Dinesh Tripathi, Chadha was arrested early Friday morning from a residence in Vinayakpur. A case has been registered under relevant sections for threatening and using offensive language against the MLA.

SP MLA Naseem Solanki visited the Commissioner of Police’s office on Friday afternoon to submit a formal memorandum demanding stringent action against Chadha. Speaking to the media, she expressed concerns for her safety, stating, “He could attack me and my family after being released from jail.” She has requested police protection for herself and her family.

Tensions rose when SP workers, including former MLA Irfan Solanki’s brother, were denied entry to the Commissioner’s camp office, leading to a confrontation with police.

The incident has sparked outrage among SP supporters. On Thursday, members of the Samajwadi Minority Sabha staged a protest at Sangeet Chauraha, where they placed a shoe garland on Chadha’s photograph and set it ablaze. Protesters raised slogans against Chadha and struck his photograph with shoes.

Kanwaljeet Singh Manu, state secretary of the Minority Sabha, alleged that Chadha frequently insults SP President Akhilesh Yadav and MLA Naseem Solanki using derogatory language. The protesters have demanded severe action against Chadha to prevent further harassment.

The case has brought attention to the safety of public representatives and the need for stringent measures against such misconduct. Legal proceedings are ongoing, with police investigating the incident further.
