11 May 2024: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Navneet Rana has been booked under multiple charges after making controversial remarks during an election campaign in Telangana. Ms. Rana, who is also an MP candidate from Amravati, faces allegations of undue influence at election, false statement, and disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant.
The case against Ms. Rana was filed by the Shadnagar police of the Cyberabad Commissionerate following a complaint lodged by Endabetla Krishna Mohan, Agriculture Officer of Chowdergudem.
During a corner meeting at Shadnagar Crossroads, Ms. Rana allegedly made remarks suggesting that voting for the Congress Party would be akin to voting for Pakistan. These comments have sparked controversy and led to an investigation by the Shadnagar police.
The charges against Ms. Rana fall under Sections 171(C) r/w 171(F), 171 (G), and 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), highlighting the seriousness of the allegations against her.
