Jaipur: A heated clash erupted in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday when BJP MLA Gopal Sharma repeatedly called Congress MLA Rafiq Khan “Pakistani.” Congress MLAs, led by Opposition Leader Tikaram Julie, strongly protested.

The remark came during a debate when Khan compared Congress and BJP governments. Indirectly addressing Sharma, Khan recited a sher suggesting newfound arrogance. Sharma immediately stood up, shouting “Pakistani-Pakistani,” triggering a Congress uproar.
Julie objected, demanding the comment be removed. He questioned Sharma’s repeated use of such words, asking if the Assembly should tolerate such behavior.
In response, Khan recited, “The people of politics should know their duty, my message of love should reach wherever it can.”
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel intervened to pacify Sharma. The incident has since sparked major political controversy in Rajasthan.
