BJP MLA Ketakee Singh Calls for Separate Hospital Wards for Muslims

Lucknow: In yet another instance of stoking communal tensions, Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Ketakee Singh has demanded a separate wing and building for Muslims in the proposed medical college in Ballia, claiming that such segregation would ensure the safety of Hindus.
Following the UP-government’s announcement in the state budget to establish a medical college in Ballia, Singh made this appeal to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is also known for making controversial statements.
“Muslims have objections to Holi, Ram Navami, and Durga Puja, so they might also have issues receiving treatment alongside us. Therefore, a separate wing and building should be constructed for them,” Singh, who represents the Ballia assembly seat, told reporters.
“We don’t know what they spit on before giving it to us. So, we request the Chief Minister to ensure a separate facility in the medical college so that we can feel safe,” she further stated.
Her remarks have sparked sharp criticism from opposition parties. Leaders of the Congress and Samajwadi Party have condemned the statement, calling it an attempt to disrupt communal harmony in Uttar Pradesh.
However, the ruling BJP has yet to issue an official response on the matter.
