Lucknow: BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar has launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Representing the Loni Assembly constituency in Ghaziabad, Gurjar accused his own party’s administration of failing to uphold its core Hindutva values, alleging rampant corruption and lawlessness.
Gurjar made sensational claims, stating that 50,000 cows are being slaughtered daily in Uttar Pradesh, facilitated by government officials for profit. He specifically accused the state’s Chief Secretary, Manoj Kumar Singh, of orchestrating the operation, calling him the central figure in the alleged scandal.
“Every day, 50,000 cows are being slaughtered in Uttar Pradesh, and officials are pocketing the money,” Gurjar said. “The Chief Secretary is leading this operation. Loot is rampant everywhere, and the Chief Secretary is at the centre of it.”
Expressing anguish, Gurjar added: “Earlier, no one dared to slaughter cows. Today, under our government, the situation has deteriorated. I am deeply saddened. This issue must reach the Chief Minister.”
The MLA also claimed that he has faced threats for speaking out. “The Commissioner openly says the Chief Secretary is untouchable. There are plans to assassinate me for these revelations, but I will continue to speak the truth.”
These accusations strike at the heart of the BJP’s Hindutva-driven politics, where cow protection is a critical narrative. Gurjar’s remarks have sparked a political storm, placing the Adityanath administration under intense scrutiny.
In addition to allegations of cow slaughter, Gurjar criticised the state government for its failure to maintain law and order. He shared an incident where the complaints of his district’s BJP general secretary were ignored by the authorities.
“I have tried multiple times to get an FIR registered for heinous crimes, but no one listens,” he said. “Women are suffering, and rape survivors are running helter-skelter for justice. Despite claims of ‘Ram Rajya,’ the reality on the ground is dismal.”
Gurjar condemned the administration’s inaction, stating that the plight of common citizens is being ignored while officials prioritise their own interests.
Gurjar’s allegations have created a significant crisis for the BJP government, challenging its Hindutva narrative and claims of effective governance. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is personally associated with cow protection and religious issues, now faces the challenge of addressing accusations against a top official in his administration.
The controversy has also provided ammunition to Opposition parties, who are likely to exploit these claims to question the BJP’s credibility. Gurjar’s remarks highlight internal dissent within the party, further complicating the political landscape for the ruling government.
As the BJP grapples with this crisis, the party’s image and promises of good governance are under severe strain, with both internal and external pressures mounting.
