BJP MLA Raja Singh Slammed for Opposing New Building of Osmania Hospital

Hyderabad: While foundation stone laid for new building of Osmania General Hospital in Goshamahal has been widely welcomed, the re-location of the century-old hospital is facing opposition from local MLA T. Raja Singh of BJP.

A section of people in the area observed bandh on January 31 when Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid the foundation for the new building.

Raja Singh released a video statement opposing construction of a new hospital building in Goshamahal. He urged the Chief Minister to reconsider the decision and address the fears of local residents.

The controversial MLA said that the area behind the stadium, called Chandanwadi, is home to many residents.

“If infectious diseases like COVID-19 spread in the future, treating patients here could put the neighbourhood at risk. Government hospital mortuaries are often in poor condition, and if the same happens here, it will cause more inconvenience,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad District Congress Committee (DCC) President Mohammed Waliullah Sameer strongly condemned Raja Singh for attempting to stall the construction of the new building, accusing him of obstructing the development of Goshamahal with his anti-progress stance.

Slamming Raja Singh for spreading baseless fears about infectious diseases and hospital mortuaries, Sameer Waliullah said the BJP MLA himself is the biggest infection that has plagued Goshamahal for years.

“His presence in the constituency is a curse for the people of Goshamahal. He has done absolutely nothing for the development of the area and has systematically blocked every opportunity for progress,” Sameer said in a statement.

The Congress leader pointed out that under Raja Singh’s tenure, not a single major project has been allowed to come up in Goshamahal.

“He has failed to bring better roads, schools, hospitals, or welfare programmes to the constituency. Now, when the government is working to build a modern, world-class hospital, he is once again playing politics and misleading the people with unfounded fears,” he said.

Accusing Raja Singh of deliberate fear-mongering, Sameer said, “He is talking about infections spreading from the hospital, but in reality, he himself is the virus that has infected Goshamahal. If there is any real threat to the progress and well-being of this constituency, it is Raja Singh. The people of Goshamahal must rid themselves of this virus if they want real development.”
