Bengaluru, August 17: The national spokesperson of BJP Shezad Poonawalla was all enthusiastic to demand the resignation of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on the issue of rape case at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
However, when he was questioned by media persons here Friday about the rape of a Dalit girl in Hathras, involving Manisha Valmiki under BJP rule in UP in 2020, Poonawalla dismissed it as incomparable and irrelevant. When another salvo was shot against him about Kathua rape case, abduction gangrape and murder of an eight years old Muslim girl Asifa Bano by seven Hindu men (including a policeman) in 2018 in Jammu and Kashmir, Poonawalla sidestepped the issue and started criticizing West Bengal government.
Poonwalla turned his gun towards Karnataka government and I.N.D.I.A. conglomerate, claiming it had habit of shielding the perpetrators of heinous crimes. He referred to cases in Karnataka especially the rape of an 11-year-old in Kalburgi and the murder of Neha Hiremath in Hubballi.
But when asked about the parading naked of two girls in Manipur, Poonwalla skipped, calling it irrelevant.
Political mud slugging makes people blind towards the naked truth. Religion and caste of the victims and the perpetrators matter now, however heinous the crime may be.
