New Delhi, April 6: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained Sai Prasad, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case in Bengaluru. This development follows revelations from two mobile shop workers who allegedly named Prasad during questioning by the NIA last week, as reported by India Today.
Sai Prasad has been brought in for questioning due to his suspected association with two individuals linked to the Rameshwaram Cafe blast. Recent NIA raids in Shivamogga, including at a mobile store and the residences of suspected individuals, were part of the ongoing investigation into this incident.
According to police sources, the blast at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe on March 1 was caused by a low-intensity improvised explosive device (IED) triggered using a timer.
The detention of Sai Prasad has sparked political controversy, with Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao criticizing the BJP over the incident. Rao questioned the implications of the NIA arresting a BJP worker and suggested potential connections to “saffron extremism” promoted by the BJP.
Rao further demanded explanations from the BJP regarding their earlier accusations against the Congress-led state government in Karnataka in relation to the Rameshwaram Cafe blast.
In a related development, the NIA announced a reward of Rs.10 lakh each for information leading to the arrest of two main suspects involved in the Bengaluru cafe blast. The agency is seeking information on Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa, urging the public to come forward with any relevant details.
The investigation into the Rameshwaram Cafe blast remains ongoing, with authorities intensifying efforts to apprehend suspects and ascertain the motives behind the attack. The detention of Sai Prasad underscores the complexity of the case and highlights the political ramifications surrounding the incident.
