New Delhi: The BJP-led government pushed the Waqf Amendment Bill through Rajya Sabha, ignoring opposition objections. AAP slammed this move, calling it a blatant attempt to seize Waqf properties.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh accused the BJP of disregarding the JPC report on the Waqf Board. He warned that tomorrow, the government might target lands of Gurudwaras, temples, and churches to benefit its allies.
Singh, a JPC member, expressed regret that opposition dissent notes were ignored. He said the government made a mockery of the JPC report.
He stressed that democracy allows different opinions. “They can disagree with us, but how can they discard our views? History will not forgive this. Today, they take Waqf properties. Tomorrow, they will seize lands of gurdwaras, temples, and churches, handing them to Adani and capitalists,” he said.
Speaking in Rajya Sabha, Singh reiterated his concerns. He emphasized that India thrives on unity in diversity. “People of different faiths have religious freedom. Today, they take Waqf land. Next, they will seize gurdwara, temple, and church lands,” he warned.
