Aligarh: A Body Donation Awareness Camp was jointly organized by the Department of Anatomy, along with Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University and the ‘Dehdan Kartavya Sanstha’ at Shelter Home for Elderly, Chharra to promote the noble cause of body donation and offer free medical services to the community.
Held under the leadership of Professor Fazal Ur Rahman, Head of the Department of Anatomy, the camp witnessed active participation from prominent faculty members and doctors, including Dr. Divya Varshney, Dr. Midhat Muttaqi, Dr. Rati Goyal, Dr. Aslam Khan, Dr. Babli Jaya Murmu, Dr. Javed Ahmad, Dr. Danish Kamal, Dr. Al Hilal Yusuf Sheikh, and Dr. Prabhakaran S.
Over 150 patients and elderly individuals benefited from free medical consultations and medicines during the camp. Essential health check-ups such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and haemoglobin tests were conducted free of charge.
While addressing the gathering, Professor Fazal Ur Rahman, Dr. Shiv Kumar Gaur, and Dr. Midhat Muttaqi emphasised the importance of body donation, describing it as a noble and selfless act that enables an individual to serve society even after death. They explained that donated bodies play a vital role in medical education and scientific research, thereby directly contributing to the training of future healthcare professionals.
Professor Fazal also highlighted the wider impact of such health initiatives, pointing out that they help in the early detection of serious illnesses and ensure timely referrals to JN Medical College for appropriate treatment. He described body donation as a unique form of charity that not only supports medical education but also provides the gift of life through improved healthcare services.
Encouraged by the informative sessions, around 15 elderly individuals came forward to register for body donation during the camp.
