Book on Prof. Akhtar-ul-Wasey Released

New Delhi, Dec. 18:  Padma Shri Prof. Akhtar-ul-Wasey: Khidmat aur Karnamey (Padma Shri Prof. Akhtar-ul-Wasey: Personality and Achievements) by Dr. Farooq Argali was released at a ceremony organized by Anjuman Taraqqi-i-Urdu Hind at Ghalib Institute here Sunday.

On the occasion, Prof. Akhtar-ul-Wasey, Former Commissioner for Linguistic Minorities and President of Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur, thanked all the guests, especially Anjuman Taraqqi-i-Urdu Hind, Farid Book Depot and Dr. Farooq Argali.

He said, “I dedicate this book to my mother, my friends and my son.”

Speaking as Chief Guest, Tariq Anwar, former Union Minister of State, Government of India, threw light on various aspects of the personality of Professor Akhtar-ul-Wasey. He said this book will prove a milestone for future generations.

The Guest of Honour, Prof. Iqbal Hussain, Acting VC of Jamia Millia Islamia, congratulating the author, said the services of Akhtar-ul-Wasey in the field of Urdu literature are unforgettable. We pray he will continue to serve the nation and community.

Another Guest of Honour and Chairman of India Islamic Cultural Center Muhammad Sirajuddin Qureshi talked about the services of Prof. Akhtar-ul-Wasey, saying that he always holds the status of a benefactor, mentor and teacher for him. May his services be accepted in the court of Almighty Allah and prove beneficial for the new generation.

Mentioning the moments he spent with Professor Wasey, Muhammad Atiq, Chancellor, Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur, said no matter how much we talk about the many services of our kind and selfless benefactor, the less we talk about.

Senior social worker and well-known businessman Hasan Rehmatullah delivered the presidential speech and talked about the book.

Dr. Farooq Argali, while talking about Dr. Akhtar-ul-Wasey’s composite personality, said he never had a grudge against anyone. He said Prof. Wasey neither favours nor opposes anyone; so, he is very popular in every sect and religion.

Meanwhile, Dr. Shabbir Bhopalwala of Dawoodi Bohra sect, Khawaja Syed Mohammad Nizami Dargah of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya; Muhammad Nasir Khan, patron of Farid Book Depot; Prof. Rukh Khalid Mahmood, former chairman, Urdu Academy, Delhi and others also expressed their views. They praised Prof. Akhtar-ul-Wasey for his outstanding services in various fields.

Earlier, Dr. Muhammad Athar Farooqui welcomed the guests.

Intellectuals from various universities, research scholars and political and social figures participated in the programme.
