In a vibrant display of communal harmony and the spirit of Unity in Diversity, the Saudi Arabia Telugu Association (SATA) hosted a grand Ramadan Iftar in Riyadh. Under the supervision of SATA President Ananda Raju, the event drew a diverse crowd of over 600 people, transcending religious and cultural boundaries to celebrate the essence of brotherhood.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Amir Maroof emphasised the sociological necessity of inter-faith dialogue. He urged both Muslim and non-Muslim community members to dedicate time to understanding one another’s traditions to foster deeper social bonds.
“In an era where society needs the concept of Unity in Diversity more than ever, it is vital that we build bridges that connect hearts rather than walls that divide us,” Maroof said. He further noted that while such inclusive cultural programmes are often the responsibility of the state, voluntary organisations like SATA are commendably filling the void to keep the community fabric intact.
Highlighting the importance of pluralism, Maroof remarked that while individuals are bound to have differing opinions and perspectives, the hallmark of a civilized society lies in mutual respect rather than criticism.
SATA President Ananda Raju echoed these sentiments, stating, “Our strength lies in our diversity. Events like these are a testament to the fact that we are a unified community regardless of where we live.”
During the event, Yaqub Khan spoke on the spiritual dimensions of Ramadan, highlighting the values of patience, self-discipline, and the profound importance of charity (Zakat) in the holy month.
The event’s seamless execution was managed by a dedicated team, including Muzammil, Ranjit and Sadiq Pasha.
The Iftar concluded not just as a meal, but as a significant cultural milestone for the Telugu diaspora in Saudi Arabia, reinforcing the message of social cohesion and mutual respect.
