CAIR Urges Social Media Giants to Probe Indian AI Bot Networks Spreading Islamophobia

Washington D.C.: The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called on major social media platforms to investigate and dismantle Indian-origin bot networks accused of using artificial intelligence to spread anti-Muslim hate speech.

In its appeal, CAIR said these AI-driven accounts are producing and amplifying content that incites violence against Muslims and fuels communal hatred worldwide. The organization highlighted that such coordinated digital campaigns are not limited to India but have found a global audience through algorithmic promotion.

CAIR demanded immediate steps from social media companies to identify and curb the spread of AI-generated misinformation. It also urged platforms to introduce transparent mechanisms for detecting automated accounts that promote religious intolerance. The group emphasized that allowing such activity threatens public safety and undermines efforts to counter digital hate.

The advocacy organization further called for public disclosure of any internal investigations and the remedial measures taken by the platforms. CAIR’s statement forms part of its broader campaign to challenge online Islamophobia and ensure accountability for algorithmic bias.

Experts have warned that unchecked AI misuse in political and social contexts deepens polarization and normalizes hate speech. CAIR said it expects global technology firms to act swiftly to prevent the exploitation of their platforms for communal propaganda.
