Kolkata, Jan. 19: After the Trinamool Congress rally, now ISF (Indian Secular Front) also got permission to hold a meeting at the same place. Calcutta High Court gave this order on Thursday. ISF was formed before the 2021 assembly election in Bengal. In 2021, ISF contested the election against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and won one seat. Furfura Sharif’s Pirzada Naushad Siddiqui is the only MLA of this party.

Justice Joy Sengupta, while passing the judgment, said ISF can hold a meeting in front of Victoria House in Dharmatala on January 21. But they cannot gather more than 1000 people. Can’t use more than 20 cars. No persuasive speech can be made from the meeting. Full cooperation with the police is required. Volunteers are to be recruited.

The court order also said that the work of the meeting should be completed between 2:30 and 4:00 PM. ISF and Police are 2 parties to video-graph the meeting and preserve it.

The lawyer of the state tried to remind the court about January 21 last year. “Remember how violence spread in front of Dharmatala’s Y channel that day.” He expressed fear that such a situation may arise this time too.

ISF had applied to the Calcutta Police, seeking permission to hold a meeting in front of Victoria House on January 21. When the police rejected the application, they approached the Calcutta High Court.

ISF MLA Nausad Siddiqui, told the media that efforts are being made to stop our meeting in the court, but we will hold the rally peacefully, keeping in mind the instructions of the court.
