New Delhi, Jan. 30: The Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of Ayush organized a “National Workshop-cum-Brainstorming Session on Finalization of SOPs for Hijama” at Jamia Millia Islamia here Monday.
In his opening remarks, Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM, discussed the significance of establishing standards for healthcare practices and services. He provided an update on the work that the three working groups established for the purpose had already completed during the previous two months. He stated that members are participating in the cupping technique on a practical, scientific, and educational level.
Prof. S. Shakir Jamil, Former DG, CCRUM gave a PowerPoint presentation on “Concept and methodology for developing of SOPs on Hijama (Cupping) and briefed on the outline adopted for the same by working groups.
Prof. Sunil Kohli, Department of Medicine, Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, New Delhi appreciated the initiative of CCRUM for development of SoPs on Hijama and gave his valuable inputs. They have worked together for the last two months to produce an extensive draft. The “Standard Operating Procedures for Hijama (Cupping)” that were developed and implemented during this one-day scientific event will go down in the annals of Unani medicine.
Dr. Rashidullah Khan, Assistant Director (Unani), in-charge of the Hakim Ajmal Khan Institute for Literary and Historical Research in Unani Medicine, New Delhi, gave a vote of gratitude.
