Hyderabad: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has asserted that the central government will not accept the Telangana government’s decision to include Muslims in the Backward Classes (BC) category. He argued that Muslims already benefit from minority reservations, and their inclusion in the BC list could impact the reservation structure.
Speaking on the issue, Sanjay claimed that the move would enable Muslims to secure seats reserved for BCs in the upcoming local body elections, citing their unified voting patterns as a potential factor in electoral dominance. He reiterated that the central government remains firm in its stance against any changes that could alter the existing reservation system.
