Chief Electoral Officer Leads Digital Revolution for Andaman & Nicobar 2024 Elections

Port Blair, Feb. 16: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, B.S. Jaglan, IAS, chaired a gathering on Thursday, with key officials to strategize for the upcoming General Elections 2024. Held at the Secretariat of the A&N Administration, the meeting aimed to streamline efforts for a smooth electoral process and enhance voter awareness.

The CEO stressed the importance of utilizing social media platforms to disseminate timely information about the electoral process and voter education. Recognizing the broad reach of social media, efforts were directed towards maximizing outreach to ensure active citizen participation.

To achieve this goal, the CEO initiated the establishment of a committee – Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC). This committee will be responsible for certifying political advertisements by Political Parties/groups/organizations/associations, ensuring compliance with electoral guidelines and regulations.

Highlighting the pivotal role of social media in shaping public discourse and its significance in the upcoming General Elections, the CEO emphasized the need to effectively engage citizens, promote voter awareness, and maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

The collaborative efforts of electoral officials and stakeholders signify a commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
