Chirag Paswan Criticizes RJD for Overlooking Muslim Representation in Bihar Politics

Patna: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan has sharply criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for neglecting Muslim representation in Bihar’s political landscape. He recalled his father, the late Ram Vilas Paswan’s 2005 initiative to appoint a Muslim Chief Minister in Bihar, which he claims was opposed by the RJD. Chirag Paswan emphasized that despite his father’s efforts, the Muslim community did not support their party, leading to a lack of meaningful political representation for Muslims in the state.

Chirag Paswan expressed his disappointment that even in 2025, the RJD has not nominated a Muslim leader for significant political positions. He highlighted that while Muslims constitute approximately 18% of Bihar’s population, they have been sidelined in the political sphere. He accused the RJD of treating Muslims merely as a vote bank without offering them substantial political power.

The LJP leader’s comments have sparked a debate on the representation of Muslims in Bihar’s politics, with many questioning the commitment of major political parties to inclusive governance. Chirag Paswan’s remarks underscore the ongoing concerns about the political marginalization of the Muslim community in the state.
