CJP Moves NCM Over Serial Hate Speeches Calling for Muslim Exclusion

New Delhi: Citizens for Justice and Peace has approached the National Commission for Minorities seeking urgent action against self styled religious figure Kalicharan Maharaj, also known as Abhijit Dhananjay Sarag. The complaint highlights repeated inflammatory speeches delivered across states between October 2024 and January 2025 targeting Muslims through exclusionary and vigilante rhetoric.

CJP marked copies of the complaint to the Directors General of Police in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The organisation cited a continuing pattern despite earlier complaints, FIRs, and a detailed submission in August 2024. Kalicharan Maharaj continued to appear at public events, including media platforms, with escalating hostility.

The complaint identified three public events. On January 8, 2025, at the Rising Madhya Pradesh programme in Bhopal, he called for exclusion of Muslim vendors from the Kumbh Mela. He promoted conspiracies such as spit jihad and urine jihad. He claimed Muslims do not belong in India and framed population growth as violence. He also accused Muslims of plotting against the Ram Mandir and invoked Ghazwa e Hind.

On December 8, 2024, in Nallasopara, Maharashtra, he cited fabricated figures on love jihad, temple destruction, and cow slaughter. CJP said these claims aimed to generate fear and hostility. On October 25, 2024, in Pune, he warned of a Sharia takeover within 15 years and endorsed cow vigilantism.

CJP stated the speeches denied equal citizenship and encouraged removal from civic and economic spaces. The complaint cited violations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. It stressed police duty to act suo motu under Supreme Court directions. CJP warned silence would deepen impunity and erode constitutional fraternity.
