Kota: Kota District Committee of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) submitted a memorandum here Thursday to District Collector, addressed to the Chief Minister, demanding immediate arrest of BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya of Jaipur’s Hawamahal constituency. The SDPI alleges that Acharya has been repeatedly taking the law into his own hands, creating communal tension, and targeting members of the minority community.
According to the memorandum, Acharya has continuously harassed Muslim shopkeepers and e-Mitra operators, labelling them “Jihadi” and “terrorists.” The SDPI further alleged that Acharya has been acting beyond his legal authority and flouting administrative processes. One recent incident cited in the memorandum involved the MLA’s entry into the Shia Imambara in Jaipur on October 21, where he reportedly entered with shoes, disrupted women in prayer, and declared the Imambara land as temple property, despite the site having been dedicated to the Shia community over 200 years ago by Jaipur’s Maharaja.
SDPI leaders emphasised that actions such as raiding businesses or investigating individuals are strictly under the jurisdiction of the police and district administration – not a legislator. The memorandum criticised Acharya’s actions as attempts to create communal discord and erode the longstanding harmony in Jaipur.
The SDPI urged the state government to hold Acharya accountable for his actions and called for immediate legal proceedings against him to safeguard communal harmony.
Prominent SDPI members present at the submission of the memorandum included state president Ashfaq Hussain, district general secretary Mohammad Abid, district secretary Hafiz Buniyadi Ali, committee member Imtiaz Hussain, and representatives of Muslim Youth Committee, including Samiullah Ansari, Hafiz Salman Qureshi, and Qasim Ansari.
