CME Begins at Dept. of Jarahat for Unani Medical Officers

Aligarh: The Department of Jarahat, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for the Unani medical officers, under the sanction from the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

In her presidential remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Naima Khatoon urged the participants to use this CME as an opportunity to upgrade their skills and knowledge and take maximum benefits from the advanced facilities available in the department.

Prof. Ubaidullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine and Prof. Badrudduja Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbia College are the Co-patrons, while the guests of honour Prof Shaheen from JN Medical College, Dr Musharraf Husain from Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Prof S.M. Arif Zaidi, former Dean, School of Unani Medical Education and Research attended the inaugural session of the programme as the CME experts.

Earlier, welcoming the guests and resource persons, Chairman of the department, Prof Tafseer Ali said that the objective of this programme is to equip the Unani medical officers with latest trends and advancements in the diagnosis and treatment methods in Ilmul Jarahat and allied fields.

He briefly discussed the facilities available in the department for higher studies and research, and expressed gratitude to the officials of Ministry of AYUSH for sanctioning a grant for this CME.

He said that 30 Medical Officers from different states of India are attending the CME.

The Organising Secretary, Dr Rabia Riaz informed that in the first two sessions, two lectures and two practical demonstrations were conducted by Prof Musharraf Husain on “Upper and Lower GI Endoscopy and its significance in the Diagnosis of GI Pathologies,” while the last two sessions comprised two lectures and two practical demonstrations conducted by Prof. S.M. Arif Zaidi on “Role and Applications of Clinical Methods and Principles of Surgery for Medical Officers in Out Patient Department”.

These sessions were conducted by Dr Fakhra Khan and Dr Shahid Khan. Dr Mohd Tarique conducted the inaugural session, while Prof Iqbal Aziz extended a vote of thanks.
