Coimbatore: A special certificate distribution ceremony was held at Park Avenue Park in Kuniamuthur on Monday to honour residents’ associations, volunteers and social organisations that played a key role in the successful implementation of the 100% Voter Awareness Campaign during the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections.
Certificates issued by the Election Commission authorities and awarded by the Coimbatore District Collector, Mr. Pawan Kumar, were presented to participants by Mr. Mahesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, and Inspector of Police Shanmuga Sundaram during the programme.
Representatives of various associations and organisations were recognised for their efforts in promoting voter awareness through door-to-door campaigns, public interactions, awareness rallies and community outreach initiatives aimed at encouraging citizens to participate in the electoral process.
According to organisers, the campaign produced significant results, with voter turnout rising from around 68 per cent in the previous election to 84.7 per cent in the 2026 Assembly polls. The increase was attributed to the collective efforts of volunteers, residents’ welfare associations and social organisations that worked extensively to educate and mobilise voters.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mahesh Kumar commended the dedication of volunteers and community leaders, congratulating them for their contribution to strengthening democracy through active civic engagement and public participation.
The programme concluded with expressions of gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the voter awareness campaign.
Organisers also conveyed their appreciation to Archana Patnaik, Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, for facilitating the certificates and extending her good wishes.
Among those associated with the initiative were Abdul Hakkim, Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Coimbatore and President of the Kuniyamuthur Residence Association Federation; Lion Devaraj; and Mr. Mohammad Al Faheem of the Students Islamic Organisation.
